Semi-solid Constitutive Parameters and Failure Behavior of a Cast AA7050 Alloy

چکیده
AA7050 is an aluminum alloy with superior mechanical properties; however, it prone to hot tearing (HT) during its production via direct-chill casting. This study focuses on extracting constitutive parameters of the thermomechanical behavior in semi-solid state as well gaining insight failure behavior. Tensile tests were performed using Instron 5944 at solid fractions between 0.85 (550 °C) and 1.0 (465 °C), deformation rates 0.2 2 mm/min. The results showed that there are three regimes this fraction range: ductile (T = 465 ≤ fs < 0.97 473 brittle 0.9 485 then again (at 550 °C)). Fracture surface analysis revealed fracture mode was mostly intergranular propagating through bridges well. Semi-solid obtained by making a simple thermal model numerical tensile ALSIM software package comparing simulation experimental tests. extracted available information from literature support fact more susceptible HT than AA5182 Al-2 wt pct Cu alloys. can further enhance predictive capability computer simulations

Microstructure and High Temperature Deformation Behavior of Cast 310S Alloy
High temperature deformation behavior of cast 310S stainless steel has been investigated in this study by performing tensile and compression tests at temperatures from 900 to 1200C. Rectangular ingots of which the dimensions were 350×350×100 in millimeter were cast using vacuum induction melting. Phase equilibrium was calculated using the FactSage®, thermodynamic software and database. Thermal ...

The performance of components produced by conventional route of a thermo mechanical process and those produced by continuous casting is interesting from different aspects of economy and technology. The performance of products in their service depends on their properties which are strongly influenced by production routes. In the present work the hardness, tensile and tensile-impact behaviors of ...
متن کاملTailorable Burning Behavior of Ti14 Alloy by Controlling Semi-Solid Forging Temperature
Semi-solid processing (SSP) is a popular near-net-shape forming technology for metals, while its application is still limited in titanium alloy mainly due to its low formability. Recent works showed that SSP could effectively enhance the formability and mechanical properties of titanium alloys. The processing parameters such as temperature and forging rate/ratio, are directly correlated with th...
متن کاملThe Influence of Liquid Surface Segregation on the Pitting Corrosion Behavior of Semi-Solid Metal High Pressure Die Cast Alloy F357
Semi-solid metal processing results in liquid segregation at the surface of the components. The pitting behavior of this surface layer of semi-solid metal processed alloy F357 was compared with the centre (or bulk) of cast plates in 3.5% NaCl aqueous solution. It is shown that pitting attack occurs preferentially in the eutectic regions at the interface between silicon particles and the alpha p...
متن کاملAn Enhanced Viscoplastic Constitutive Model for Semi-Solid Materials to Analyze Shear Localization
Semi-solid materials undergo strain localization and shear band formation as a result of granular nature of semi-solid deformation. In the present study, to analyze the shear localization, a unified viscoplastic constitutive model was developed for the homogeneous flow. Then, a linearized analysis of the stability performed by examining the necessary condition for the perturbation growth. For t...
